The Forest Carbon Group AG (FCG) develops, finances and markets worldwide forest projects with high social and ecological benefits, and supports companies in implementing their carbon strategies. It is motivated by the need for forestry development that does not jeopardise livelihoods, which sustainably utilises forests and natural resources, and which uses forestry management to restore damaged habitats. The Forest Carbon Group AG is a service provider with considerable project experience that offers economic and technical expertise in balancing carbon along the entire value added chain – ranging from the development of the projects to their certification and marketing. The Forest Carbon Group AG not only offers services such as carbon footprinting and carbon balancing through forest projects but also individual consultation in the fields of marketing and communication.
Our forest projects are verified and certified by independent expert appraisers. They meet the internationally recognised standards of the voluntary carbon market. Our direct stake in a project developer specialising in forest conservation and reforestation gives us access to high quality emission reduction certificates (forest carbon offsets) and enables us to draw on a large procurement market.
The Forest Carbon Group AG was founded in 2009 by the Hessian energy supplier HEAG Südhessische Energie AG (HSE) and the Business Communications Consulting (BCC) company. The company is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The Forest Carbon Group AG has devoted itself to forest conservation because forests provide long-term storage of carbon, compensate for climate-harming emissions and ensure a sustainable future. The reforestation of forests, the protection of intact forest areas and their sustainable management not only promote carbonstorage but also provide diverse ecological and socio-economic benefits. Forests are vital for eco-systems, local communities and businesses. It is only through their protection and sophisticated management that we are guaranteed environmental services such as the regulation of the hydrological balance and soil protection. Forests ensure biodiversity and the protection of species. Our forest projects create revenue for the participating communities and foster regional economic cycles that are viable.
We invest in forest projects in order to protect still intact forest ecosystems and to restore degraded forests, whereby our forest projects recognise the environmental contribution provided by the forests. For our customers, forest-based climate protection is both cost-effective and sustainable. It is also independent of the location – since the climate is global.
